The Music of Tommy Botz and The Americana Dream
“One night while I was praying I heard in my heart - go for you dream and I will put someone in your life who believes in your music”, and after contacting Ante Up Studios owner Michael Seifert, the two began a collaboration that would become his 6-song EP “Family and Friends” - Tommy Botz
The current state of Country Music has turned to songwriters of the times like Tommy Botz. The old-timers of the genre like Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson are more relevant to todays desert vibe. 2020 has shook up the world, particularly artists trying to get their music out, trying to make a living. Botz writes songs about hard times, a good woman, and sheer life through the bottle.
"Maggie" features a rocking backup band with 'Red Rhodes' pedal steel and a ripping guitar solo. "Train of Glory" is a backyard foot stomper, reminiscent of Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison. Both songs follow a road wanderer, passing the time through his thoughts in a song.
Tommy Botz's vision of the American dream and the American wasteland is unique, like the soundtrack to a 1970's Robert Altman movie. He is a storyteller, a songwriter that paints a picture of life the hard way, real - life. In these troubled times, this is the music we need, these are songs to toast to.
